This was a really amazing moment at the Katsucon Masquerade. From the 07-Ghost skit. I was so happy I caught this moment, it was such a cool effect. ^^
Amazing pictures from our skit from remdragon8. So glad you got these.
Ok so I’ve neglected this for far to long and I’m going to attempt to keep up with it this time. I swear.
I’ve never voted and have never really had the want to. There is just too much about our government that I don’t agree with and therefore I’ve never had a candidate I wanted to vote for.
This year’s elections is nothing different. In fact I haven’t even followed the candidates this year. I’ve heard enough from word of mouth to let me know it’d be pointless. There really isn’t a lesser evil I guess. Oh well…
Now that the Republicans have the House, it seems nothing will get done since the Democrats run the Senate. All they will do is bicker amongst themselves as neither side can come to an agreement on any issue.
This brings our government to a stand still which doesn’t look good for our future. In my opinion the parties should be done away with. This country was founded on a government for the people, not a government for a certain party. Yes, there would still be disagreements but it would be based on a majority vote amongst a group of people not between two parties.
Due to readers making rude, vile and indecent comments against subjects the Portland Herald Press decided to shut down its readers ability to post responses to their stories. This was done in order to protect its readers and its stories from vulgar and hurtful comments.
Publisher for the Portland Herald Press Richard Connor said the decision had been a long time coming as they had been considering it over the past few months. The reason behind such a decision is that the comments were getting out of control and there were not enough moderators to keep them under control.
Connor says that the comments may return in the future but for now they will remain down. The comments were meant for people to make educated responses that would help the story. However, “trolls” or people who post vulgar comments just to get an argument started lurk almost any site that allows them. These posts then turn into a war between the poster with each wanting their opinion to be heard and if that means beating down the other poster by any means possible then they will do just that. Posts started by these trolls are what led to the comments being shut down.
The Portland Herald Press is not the first to shut down comments as many other places have had similar issues. This is due to a staff shortage to where the comments can’t be moderated or there are just to many to be moderated by the moderators that are present.
Today’s economy isn’t good for anyone. Prices are rising and wages are lowering. Jobs are becoming harder and harder to find despite the fact that the government is working on providing more jobs.
This is affecting everyone, not just the older working class, but college and high-school students as well. The jobs that are usually given to students are now being taken by people who have been laid off from their original jobs. This is causing students to have a hard time finding a job that will work with their school schedule.
I know I have dealt with this along with many others. It doesn’t help that it seems our nations way of fixing our national debt is to create more debt. We can’t make more money as it will only cause the value of the dollar to drop more. Only way to fix it is to stop spending.
Unfortunately, the stop spending part isn’t going to happen as spending is a requirement for not only our nation but for everyday life, even if its a small amount. However, budgeting how much we spend is always an option.
